PEOPLE + PHILOSOPHY:
We design homes, multi-residential housing, educational and commercial buildings. We design for families, farmers, artists and craftsmen, academics, financiers, doctors, veterinarians and nurses, entrepreneurs and environmentalists, sports-persons, retirees, technicians and tradesmen. Whatever your brief, concept or endeavor, we create sound and considered designs for your family or business needs. Our approach is simple: we are all an extension of each other and each of us is an extension of nature. Nurture the space you occupy for this nurtures us all. Economic constraints, environment respect and architecture excellence are not opposing forces but rather require astute and lateral solutions. As such we create results that are far reaching, cost effective solutions, married to the needs and desires of the brief and add or become typologies to that region.
ARCHITECTURE + MODERN LIFE:
Many of the dwellings we design are situated in rural or remote settings, however we aim to create those same sanctuary qualities in the heart of the urban landscape. As a result, we have lodged numerous applications in the development and construction sectors. This has given us significant urban and council experience. We are a sound match with those who appreciate both the robust and sensual qualities of materials: timber, stone, earth, concrete. These materials, like a fine wine, mellow and age with the weathering of the elements and the passing of time. We design so as to respond to the intimacy and brief of the clients. We challenge the design process so that the inside and outside are evenly balanced and interconnected. We stride to optimise the space so as to ensure the necessary degree of comfort whilst simultaneously engaging with the extended landscape and beyond (infinite). The design process should bring soulfulness to the form and set the stage of life for you and future generations. As such, we incorporate intrinsic factors such as life cycle, generational change and work-life balance. We also consider changing workplace dynamics, split housing and wider community inclusion. In this way, we consider the needs of future generations: encounter, connection, experience and refuge... a sustainable approach goes hand in hand with this future.
IMAGINATION + LANDSCAPE:
We create architecture so that it bridges existing site qualities and the extended landscape into form. By carefully studying the terrain and climate it signals the foundation for what shape may emerge. Our motif is to inspire imaginative yet quiet architecture of the Australian landscape which both inspires and nestles all who live or visit ones "lot". As such, we are interested in both place and event, and like a competent tailor, we make the fabric (form) be an extension of the body (site) so that it is accessible, respectful, vibrational and as such - full of opportunity. Our occupants, whether home makers, entrepreneurs or public initiators come from all walks of life and our architecture situates itself in an amazing diversity of landscapes. We are particularly interested in the Australian context and how we can live in and embrace the Australian bush. We engage in the changing environment along the eastern seaboard, from the coastal fringes of the Great Southern Ocean to the secluded ebb of the Great Barrier Reef, the solitude of the Australian bush and the centre or timelessness of these ancient deserts.
PRO BONO + FUTURE:
Each year we actively engage in pro bono work. We contribute to the wider community. Each year a percentage of billing time is given to local education and community projects or wider democracy issues and events. Like previous years we have met so many wonderful people who want to partake in a better community. When that spirit is combined, you realise that the world is far from doomed and a little goes a long way...
